The Grill on the Alley
Arriving early to catch up with Hans upon his return from safari, I was met with protesters outside. The first steak night picketing. Heavy drinking ensued – apparently there was a conference in the hotel.
Narrowly squeezing past the judges (having only 4 steaks on the menu), in an attempt to delay a return visit to a steak house we’ve already experienced, The Grill is in the Westin Hotel.
I had the “special” with the filet and it was properly cooked, although the horseradish was less of a preparation than a garnish. The apps and sides were delicious, most notably the popcorn shrimp. The mashed potatoes were served mixed with spinach, which was questionable yet filling. One wonders if perhaps the migratory nature of its patrons might have helped it arrive at such lofty Zagat numbers. It was a solid 6.5.
Onward to December!

Company aside I would have to say this was one of the poorest showings for steakhouses in chicago. Not to be repeated.
